April 25, 2022 - write a poem that recounts a dream or vision, and in which a woman appears who represents or reflects the area in which you live.
Mama Red
She appeared
seemingly overnight
swollen
and moving deceptively fast
She storms in
and sweeps away
anything not secured
Swirling brown angry waters
hide hidden currents
buried resentment
at her disturbed rest
Last week
she meandered lazily
tossing ice flows
She's not happy
to have been suddenly woken
We keep away
until the worst recedes.
(*I feel as if I've written too many poems about the weather this month but it's been a pretty rough winter and this makes it an easy subject :)
